Meet the Teacher

Nolan McNally & Kris Myrseth-Barrea

Nolan McNally, nmcnally@nwtech.k12.wa.us - Meridian
I have been a welder in the local industry since graduating from Bellingham Technical College in 2018. I have worked on aluminum boats, structural steel, public art projects, and now run my own business offering custom metal work to a wide range of clients. I get a great deal of personal satisfaction from building things. Metal work gives me a very tangible result from my labors, and I find that very rewarding. I have found teaching to be equally rewarding, as the daily progress my students make is just as tangible. I apply my ever growing, real world welding experience to the lessons in my classroom. My goal is to produce welders who have a realistic understanding of the trade, and a set of applicable skills for the industry.

Kris Myrseth-Barrea , kbarrea@nwtech.k12.wa.us - Sedro-Woolly
I started welding in 2011 at a small fabrication shop and graduated from the Bellingham Technical College welding program in 2017. I have experience welding truck frames, trailers, gates, fences, and other custom fabrication. I transitioned to teach here at NCTA to pursue my passion for helping teach future welders and tradespeople. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two dogs enjoying the beautiful PNW.
