About Northwest Career and Technical Academy

Northwest Career and Technical Academy is an affiliate of several Northwest Washington school districts. We provide free technical and professional training for high-school-age students. Our robust course catalog offers students the opportunity to participate in experience-based hands-on learning as they earn high school credits, college credits, and industry-specific certifications.

Community, Education, and Business Partnerships

NCTA values our many educational and industrial partnerships, which allow us to offer a content-rich learning environment to our students, both within the classroom and via work-based experiences. The NCTA is a consortium of the six Skagit County school districts (Anacortes, Burlington-Edison, Concrete, Mount Vernon, La Conner and Sedro-Woolley), two Whatcom County school districts (Bellingham, and Meridian), and Skagit Valley College. Our governing Administrative Council is made up the eight school district superintendents and the SVC President. Other districts which have accessed the NCTA for their students include Blaine, Ferndale, Lynden, Mount Baker, Nooksack Valley, Stanwood-Camano, and Arlington.

All Skills Centers in Washington State are required to have a General Advisory Board composed of members from industry, business and education who act as consultants to our administration regarding Academy programs.

Student Support at NCTA

Students that may require special needs, services or education plans, such as those under a 504 plan or IEP (Individualized Education Program) are welcome here at the NCTA. We work diligently with parents and sending schools to ensure that each student is given an equal opportunity to thrive within the NCTA program.

We also offer an Open Doors program to current or previous NCTA students who are looking to earn a high school diploma. Please see the Open Doors tab elsewhere on this website for additional information.

State Representative David Quall Played Key Role in Establishing NCTA

Washington State Representative David Quall, a firm believer in career and technical education, is the true champion of Northwest Career and Technical Academy. His unwavering support led to the success of this project and the establishment of the Mount Vernon and Anacortes campuses. Representative Quall served the 4th District from 1993 to 2011.
